INTRODUCTION: On behalf of the Institute of Accredited Business Consultants NZ Inc (IABC) and ACI Global, welcome to the worlds first competency based online certification programme for Business Consultants.

This Programme has been specifically designed and implemented in compliance of ISO/IEC 17024 Guidelines. The objective is to assist Business Consultants gain an internationally recognised Certificate of Competence by providing "Peer Review" within a flexible and relevant competency learning platform that evaluates their "Knowledge, Ability, Attitude and Personality" in accordance with the soon to be released International Personnel Certification Scheme for International Business Consultants.

ENROLLMENT DATE: The first online Programme will commence from 12th March 2010, so enrol today.

PROGRAMME FACILITATOR: RABQSA approved and appointed at Programme registration and enrollment.

PROGRAMME LENGTH: Dependent on Candidates ability to have the necessary evidence to address the 6 Key Competencies examined within the programme.

PROGRAMME RECOGNITION: Certificate of competence.

PROGRAMME CODE: IABCBC application Pending RABQSA International Inc Certification.

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW: The IABC online International Business Consultants Accreditation Programme enables a flexible learning and assessment approach. The Programme is delivered online via internet-based learning. This enables the participant to conduct the programme at their place of work or in their own time, with the assessments made available electronically. Therefore, "YOU" now have control of when and how you are evaluated, saving you and your organisation time, money and minimising participant stress.

PROGRAMME DESIRABLES: Broadband ADSL together with SKYPE or Windows Live Messenger is highly recommended. This technology will be used to assist the student during the programme.

PROGRAMME PREREQUISITES: Candidates will require some experience and understanding of Business Consultancy although the programme is designed in such a way as to allow entry from Provisional right the way through to International Business Consultant. PROGRAMME OUTLINE: The Programme outline below indicates the Grades and competency units for the International Business Consultants Accreditation Programme.

  • Professional Business Consultant Grade: Business Analysis & Planning, Exercise Personal Competencies, Communication, Be able to Assess Client Competencies, Faciliatate Client Development & Competence and Human Resources.
  • International Business Consultants Grade: To be introduced late in 2010.

Competency Assessment Process:

Competence (also competency) is described as having the ability to do a job of work to accepted standards and or within national or international guidelines.

Within the scope of the professional consultancy certification process candidates will be examined against 6 areas of competence to ensure they are in fact competent to work within these competency guidelines.

Competencies include:

  • Conduct business analysis and planning - explores ability to develop situational and marketing analysis, structural and functional procedures, strategic and business planning, financial management and performance and credit procedures;
  • Exercise individual personal competencies - explores ability to use personal competence (s) including managing time, organisational skills, creative thinking, problem solving, leadership facilitation, information management, negotiation and selling skills;
  • Communication skills - explores ability to apply listening techniques, develop effective client relationships, apply interview techniques, interpret and apply verbal and non verbal communication, demonstrate positive attitude and use a variety of communication tools and techniques;
  • Assess of client competencies - explores ability to assist client with self assessment, assessment of risk and assess the parameters of family support;
  • Facilitate client development and competencies - explores ability to introduce clients to business planning tools, identity learning opportunities and apply coaching techniques;
  • Human resource management - explores ability to apply the methods of human resource management, explain organisational behaviour and skills, the employment process and employment law, training and development strategy, performance management, health and safety application, cultural identity and analyse organisational culture and personality types.

But always remember, competency is not a PAAS or FAIL exercise there are no grey areas ------ you are either competent or not yet competent.
