ACI Global and ISO/TS 16949
"Accelerating Continuous Improvement on a Global Scale"
ISO TS 16949 is the harmonization of technical standards for suppliers to the automotive industry and its aim / target is:
What happens to the QS 9000?
QS 9000 has now been replaced by ISO/TS 16949 with transition audits now being carried out to transfer QS 9000 certifications to the new ISO Transport Standard that of ISO/TS 16949.
This new standard ISO/TS 16949 is applicable to suppliers within the automotive chain who have supply products in the field of production materials, production and service parts, assembly or heat treating, welding, painting, plating or other finishing services (i.e. value adding activities).
Step 1- The development and successful implementation of an ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System
Step 2 - Key staff should be trained in the requirements of the ISO TS 16949 Standard
Step 3 - Requirements of the ISO TS 16949 Standard to be implemented
Step 4 - Documentation to be reviewed to ensure new or modified processes and requirements are included.
Step 5 - Internal audits and management reviews to be carried out to ensure compliance with the requirements of the ISO TS 16949:2000 Standard.
Step 6 - Contact ACI Global for a quotation to have your ISO/TS 16949 Certified
Your Quality Management System must of been in place for at least 12 months so as to provide adequate information to ACI Global prior to your application for certification i.e. trends of key figures for the previous 12 months, trends regarding customer satisfaction, results of internal audits during the last 12 months & results of the management reviews performed over the last 12 months etc.
In addition to your Management Representative, you need to nominate a Customer’s Representative who is responsible for the satisfactory completion of your customer’s requirements within your company
Time ! Give yourself and your staff enough time to thoroughly implement the requirements of the new standard including (maybe) new documentation such as control plans, business plans, customer survey data etc. The system should work for you, - not vice versa.
